How to Claim Your LinkedIn Vanity URL

Which URL looks better?

www.linkedin.com/pub/mir-garvy-96335a46/69/101/29
or
www.linkedin.com/in/mirgarvy

Exactly my point.

Very few people even know that they have the ability to create a customized address at LinkedIn. A vanity URL makes your LinkedIn profile easier to find, easier to remember, and more professional. Once you have your new URL, put it on your resume, add it to your email signature, and use it anytime you have a chance to promote yourself.

“Okay, okay!” you say. “I get it! I want one.” Here’s how to claim your LinkendIn vanity URL in three easy steps:

  1. Log in at www.linkedin.com and go to Profile, then Edit Profile.
  2. Under your photo, you’ll see your existing LinkedIn URL. Mouse over the URL and you’ll see a little tool icon to the right of the URL appear. Click it.
  3. On the next page, look in the right-hand sidebar and you’ll see “Your Public Profile URL” with a little blue pencil icon. This is where you’ll be able to choose a customized ending for your LinkedIn URL. Hopefully your name or some very appropriate version of your name is available. Once you’ve selected your new URL, click Save.
